Computing at Lytham CE

At Lytham CE, we offer an engaging and well‑rounded computing curriculum that helps children become confident users of technology, software, and the internet. We recognise the importance of technology in our rapidly changing digital world, and we aim to model and teach the safe, responsible, and positive use of digital tools.

Our curriculum covers computer science, information technology, and digital literacy, taught through purposeful, progressive units that allow children to build and secure their learning over time.

We value the creative opportunities that technology provides and encourage pupils to express their learning in imaginative and meaningful ways. Through our knowledge‑rich approach, children learn to apply their skills confidently and become capable, thoughtful computer scientists. Computing skills are also woven into other subjects to strengthen digital fluency and show pupils how technology is used beyond dedicated computing lessons.

What scheme do we follow?

We use the Teach Computing Curriculum because:

  • Every unit has been thoroughly tested by teachers and is built on the latest research, ensuring lessons are reliable, effective and classroom‑ready.
  • It offers a large library of high‑quality teaching resources.
  • The scheme provides over 500 lessons, organised into well‑structured units that are fully mapped to the England computing curriculum.
  • It includes clear progression across year groups, allowing children to consistently build on and deepen their knowledge and skills as they move through school.
